Book “Campinas 250 Years” Celebrates the Municipality’s Legacy Through Photography
Produced in Fine Art with sponsorship from Concessionária Rota das Bandeiras, the book will be distributed to libraries and cultural centers in Campinas.
How many Campinases exist within the municipality? This is the question the book “Campinas 250 Years” aims to answer through photographs that capture the city’s many facets, such as the contrast between its bustling downtown area and the rural charm preserved in its districts, its leadership in education, science, and technology, its historic buildings, and achievements in areas such as arts and sports. Developed by KM Cultural, a production company specializing in publications that highlight the cultural and economic aspects of Brazilian cities, the 180-page book was printed in Fine Art and will be launched on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 26, at 4 p.m., in the Campinas City Hall lobby, with Mayor Dário Saadi in attendance.
“We sought to portray the Campinas of today, shaped over these 250 years. Numerous historical events and prominent figures have contributed to making the city an important economic and cultural hub in the country, attracting more residents from across Brazil and abroad, who find a welcoming and vibrant city,” says Márcio Masulino, responsible for the publication.
The book was produced under the Federal Law of Cultural Incentives, and copies will be distributed to public libraries and cultural centers. It will also serve as an important resource for municipal departments to promote the city. With bilingual content in Portuguese and English, the book will be used to promote Campinas at international fairs. Business tourism, an increasingly significant aspect of the city’s economy, is highlighted in the publication, which is sponsored by Concessionária Rota das Bandeiras.
“In addition to our mission to modernize and expand the road infrastructure of the 17 municipalities that make up the Dom Pedro Highway Corridor, directly contributing to the economic development of one of Brazil’s most important regions, our company policy is to value the cultural aspects of these locations. Through the Cultural Incentive Law, Rota das Bandeiras had previously sponsored a book about the entire Dom Pedro Corridor, and now we are proud to enable the distribution of a publication exclusively about Campinas, one of the country’s most significant cities and the main city in our area of operation,” says Douglas Longhi, CEO of Rota das Bandeiras.
